Designing Your Home Theater Seating With Customer’s Own Material (COM) Or Customer’s Own Leather (COL)

We intentionally design our theater seating chairs based on modular components, which allows for extensive customization of features such as backrests, arm styles, and more. This flexibility enables us to accommodate requests for exclusive one-off designs such as:

  • Custom sizing requests and chair styles (including chaise style seating)
  • Custom storage compartments and cup holders, such as lit and cooling
  • Custom touch panel and iPad modules
  • Custom embroidery and engraving
  • Exotic wood species and custom staining

Naturally, our design flexibility doesn’t stop with the construction of the chair frames, backs, and armrests — it extends to the quality materials used to cover the finished chairs themselves. We take pride in offering one of the largest selections of leathers, luxury synthetics, and high-quality fabrics for our chairs. In some cases, our customers prefer to use their own fabrics/leathers or design a material from scratch.

Supply Us with your COM or COL to Create Your Perfect Home Theater Seating

If you utilize our unique Custom Chair Builder Tool, you will see that our standard options for fabrics and leathers are what most people would consider “luxury,” not “standard.” If you prefer to use another material of your choice, just select the C.O.M. (Customer’s Own Material) or C.O.L. (Customer’s Own Leather) options.

At Elite, we request that the client sends’ us the leather or material directly, as we want to ensure we are receiving the exact upholstery piece they desire.

COM Requirements are 7 yards per chair, assuming the material is non-patterned and has no pile/directionality
COL Requirements are 150 sq. feet per chair with 50 sq. hide average (3 per chair approximately)

What if My Material is Patterned?

If a material is patterned, or has pile/directionality, the sales team and Elite’s production manager typically requests a sample to be sent to our head office in Canada. To ensure enough material is sent to Elite’s office for the chair/configuration being built on the client’s behalf, our team will review the sample and inform the client is more than 7 yards per chair is necessary.

Should you have more questions or concerns regarding Elite’s design process and upholstering your high-end theatre seating in your own material or leather, please do not hesitate to reach out to a sales consultant at 604-575-8310 or sales@elitehts.com
